MASKS ARE REQUIRED FOR THE IN-PERSON MEETING!

Xcel wants to change the casks it uses at Prairie Island, and the Dept. of Commerce – EERA will put together a supplemental EIS.

EERA has scheduled meetings and why? This is THE opportunity to let the know what you think should be included in this supplemental EIS (it’s building on the earlier one when they expanded storage back circa 2008-2009):

Here’s the schedule for the environmental side (separate from the substantive side). As you can see, they’re running about a month behind.

Not much has been filed in this docket so far:

Whatever for? We’ll find out. In essence, Xcel wants to extend the life of the plant past 2030, and to “continue operations of MNGP through the year 2040. So it’s more than “storage,” it’s the opportunity to keep that nuclear plant running. It’s the same GE design as Fukushima-Daiichi!

There’s a Comment period starting TODAY on Completeness of their application:

Happy reading!

Yup, that’s what it says:

GOVERMENT (sic) WILL NEVER HAVE AN ETERNAL LIFE POLICY

So the sign says… Can anyone explain? (does anyone want to fill them in on how “government” is spelled?)

I get that “eternal life” is a primary tenet of the church, but what is an “eternal life policy.” Eternal life is only for believers. OK, fine… but what does “government” have to do with it. There’s separation of church and state, this isn’t a theocracy, but is there an underlying expectation perhaps? Is the world, or even a tiny subset, clamoring for government to have an eternal life policy? What the hell would that look like? Is this a message to divert people paying attention to government to redirect attention away from government and towards the church to attain eternal life? Is it a message to ignore the government’s attempts to protect us with masking, vaccination, and SCIENCE? Who needs a vaccination when you’ve got eternal life!

“Government will never have an eternal life policy.” Well, DOH! Why would anyone expect that? And why say that?

I left a message saying I’d seen that sign, repeated the words, and said “I don’t understand, could someone explain, please?” (651) 388-9175

I spent a lot of time at church, went to both early and late communion classes, took “World Religions” at Central, and I consider myself rather educated in a variety of theological notions. Color me dense… I just don’t understand the point.

What does this mean? The actual words… or between the lines… EH?!?! Any ideas?

One that someone just forwarded:

9 Ronald Reagan Quotes About Taxes

4. “No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we’ll ever see on this earth!”

The threat?

Yes, eleven (11) “U.S. Representatives” sent a threatening letter to CEOs of telecom companies after the U.S. House January 6th Investigation Committee sent missives to these companies to “preserve records.” What drives me nuts about these articles is they don’t come out and name the eleven, they name a few, and they don’t link to the letter. So here it is, the letter is below (click for separate window/larger view), and here are the eleven.

Call the eleven who signed on, here they are in alphabetical order:
