Waterloo coal plant picking up steam
April 13th, 2006
The “Elk Run” coal plant proposed by LS Power for Waterloo is moving forward. They’ve been holding meetings in Waterloo and Cedar Falls. Clean Air Waterloo is organizing opposition to the plant and have just started a blog. A meeting last night at the Waterloo library was packed, and people are just starting to get information about the plant. The first official meeting held by the power plant promoters and the Iowa Utilities Board isn’t scheduled until May:
May 11
LS Power/Elk Run Energy Associates, LLC public meeting
Waterloo’s Five Sullivan Brothers Convention Center @ 6 p.m.
Dunkerton schools, Waterloo would see large benefits from power plant tax revenue
600 petition against power plant
Power plant annexation possibilities concern county residents
LS Power options additional land for power plant site
Something tells me that a lot of people will wake up before that meeting in May!
